MCHC launches the MetroChicago Health Information Exchange

After more than 18 months of planning and preparation, I’m pleased to announce that the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) has officially launched the MetroChicago Health Information Exchange (HIE) using Microsoft Corp., CSC and HealthUnity Corp. technologies to drive quality care improvements and cost efficiencies for Chicago health care consumers. Yesterday evening, Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel sat down with Bruce Dold, editorial page editor of the Chicago Tribune at an event held at the Museum of Science and Industry. There were several elected officials, business leaders and representatives of the not for profits in attendance. It was an opportunity to learn more about the Mayor-elect’s primary issues, management style and approach to solving the city’s many issues – the largest being the $400+ million budget deficit (not including the pension obligation).
